Making Self-Care a Basic Right
Why we started: Self-care shouldn’t be a luxury.

At Modess, we believe in self-care. But for millions of people, a pad or a face towel isn’t “a lifestyle choice”. It’s a real financial burden. When someone has to choose between buying food and buying period products, dignity gets pushed aside. Our mission is simple: remove the hidden barriers behind everyday essentials, so basic care can truly be part of daily life.

The Reality We’re Facing
Inequality in period and personal care affects millions of people.

Period hardship: The stress of “I can’t afford it” or “I don’t have enough.”

Period shame: The awkwardness of feeling like you have to hide a pad.

Care inequality: The idea that “good care” always comes with a high price tag.

Our promise: From self-care to shared dignity
We’re building Modess on these principles:

🌸 Education & empowerment

Break the stigma. Get real.

  1. Share honest, helpful information: We put out clear, science-based knowledge about menstrual and body care—so support doesn’t feel out of reach.
  2. Say no to appearance pressure: Our content centers on real bodies and real experiences. No heavy filters, no perfection storylines. Just real care, as it is.
  3. Normalize the conversation: We help make talk about periods, body care, and self-care feel normal—not taboo.

🤝 Access & advocacy

Use our voice to push change.

  1. Mutual-aid support: We support “take-what-you-need” period supply boxes in schools, workplaces, and other shared spaces.
  2. Care as a basic need: We work with community groups to support people who face barriers to essentials and to push back against care inequality.
  3. Amplify real voices: We use our platform to support efforts that get period and personal care products to those who need them most.
The future we’re building together

Lower barriers to access: Work toward a world where period products are as easy to find as toilet paper.

Protect basic rights: Treat personal care as part of basic human dignity.

Support equal opportunity: No one should have to go without essentials because of income or circumstance.

Change the culture: Make it normal to talk openly about periods, body hair, and self-care—without shame.

This is what Modess is working toward—through every product we make, every honest conversation we start, and every step we take to keep attention on the changes that matter.
